Working...
Turning an idea into a reality (through hard work).
Thomas Edison told us that “genius is 1% inspiration and 99% perspiration.”
If the early development of Message Labs is anything to go by, we think this is spot on.
Vocalising our idea for a message-testing and lifecycle platform and shaking hands on a commitment to see it through may have felt like a huge step. But it was just the very tiniest tip of a very large and cumbersome iceberg.
Since then, we've built out our product capabilities and our message libraries, ensuring that the addition of new messages and message versions is as smooth and as automated as possible. We've consulted with our colleagues and friends in the industry to understand the pain points and frustrations that testing presents.
We have had many "aha" moments, such as when we realised that developing an application purely for testing meant that we could (and indeed should) provide capabilities to the user that aren't available to a production application that happens to be running in a test environment.
It's taken time to craft an application that not only simulates counterparty processes but also offers configurable message validation and generation, supporting the full financial lifecycle with an intuitive interface.
And, as anyone who's set up a company from scratch will tell you, there are a thousand and one corporate, technological, legal and financial hoops through which to jump before the entity is viable.
These things all take time, effort and dedication.
We're nearly there.
In a few weeks' time, Message Labs will be born. The process of developing the idea to a viable product has been fascinating. We've all learned a lot and put in some hard yards. It's taken blood, tears and toil.
But most of all, it's taken sweat. Turns out, Mr. Edison knew exactly what he was talking about.
